From Struggle to Stability At Barnabus, we believe that everyone deserves a second chance. Ethan’s story is one that reminds us why we do what we do. It reminds us how consistent and compassionate support can transform a life. We first met Ethan seven years ago. During that time, he has faced more than his fair share of challenges. From struggling with addiction and not being able to hold down a job, to spending time in prison. Throughout all of that, we stayed by his side. Starting on the inside Whilst he was in prison, our team visited him regularly, reminding him that he wasn’t alone and that there was still hope for the future. When Ethan came out of prison, he found himself living in shared accommodation that was unsafe and unsanitary. It wasn’t the fresh start he deserved, so we helped him move into one of our supported houses. A safe and stable environment where he could begin rebuilding his life. From there, Ethan began to thrive. We supported him to access vital mental health care, taking him to appointments and connecting him with Change, Grow, Live, a service dedicated to helping people overcome drug and alcohol dependency. As he began to focus on his wellbeing, he also started giving back to the community, volunteering at other local homeless services. Thriving Through Community Over time, Ethan’s confidence grew. He regularly attends his one-to-one meetings and group sessions in the house and continues to work closely with our housing team. Now, after years of determination and support, Ethan is preparing to move into his own home and to start taking the next steps towards independent living. Stepping Into a Brighter Future Ethan’s hard work and dedication is being recognised and he’s been offered the chance to join the staff at the charity where he actively volunteers. This is a powerful reminder of how lives can transform with the right support. Ethan’s journey isn’t just a story of recovery, it’s a story of community and hope. We’re so proud of how far he’s come and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. Stories like Ethan’s remind us what’s possible when people get the support they deserve. If you’d like to help someone else take their first steps towards a safer, brighter future, please consider supporting Barnabus today. If you can please support Barnabus so that more people like Ethan can move off the streets and find new hope and new homes.
